A Review of the Literature on Adult Content on Social Media Regarding Adolescent Sexual Behavior

Abstract

Teenagers are an easy generation which is very different today from the younger generation in the past. One of the most relevant issues in the study of adolescent well-being in recent decades is their relationship to online technology for teens who grew up in the age of social media, and the COVID-19 pandemic and advances in technology have challenged the way psychology understands their behavior. This study aims to identify articles to determine whether there is an influence of adult content on social media on adolescent sexual behavior. The design used is a literature review. The process of searching for articles through journal databases includes Pubmed (n=155), Spinger (n=70) Ebsco (n=58) Google scholar (n=81). The number of articles identified were (n= 364). Exclusion: publications > last 5 years, not about adult content (186) so that what was identified was (n=179) and exclusion: multiple articles (n=69) so that the filtered results were (n=109) articles and exclusion: irrelevant articles (n=82) eligible full text articles (n=27 ) inclusion articles (n=17) exclusion: does not answer the research question (n=10). Teenagers who often access adult content can become addicted to social media and have an impact on risky sexual behavior, especially in the condition of online learners who involve all activities on social media. It was found that there was an influence on adult content on social media with adolescent sexual behavior. The era of digitalization greatly affects the behavior of teenagers, including sexuality, where when using social media it is very young to find various content including adult content.
